Care starts with understanding the injury

Tell the clinician when the collision happened, what symptoms you noticed, and what has changed. Discuss limits with driving, work, sleep, or everyday movement. A crash does not lead to the same care plan for every person.

SCHR evaluates auto-accident concerns in Palm Bay and Sebastian. Recommendations depend on the history and examination, including whether imaging, medical referral, or another form of care is needed. Learn about Dr. Jason Comerford and the practice.

When emergency care comes first

Call 911 for emergency symptoms such as trouble breathing, chest pain, confusion, or a severe headache after a crash. New weakness, trouble walking, or severe or worsening neck symptoms need prompt medical evaluation. Do not wait for a routine appointment.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Crash date and available claim or policy information
  • Medication list and relevant medical history
  • Records from emergency care or other treating providers
  • A note about symptoms and the activities affected

For a non-emergency concern, request an injury evaluation. The office must confirm your appointment time; sending a request does not establish that care has begun.

Florida PIP: understand the initial-care timeline

Florida law generally requires initial care within 14 days of the crash for PIP medical benefits. Coverage is not guaranteed. Read our Florida 14-day PIP guide for the source, limits, and practical questions to ask your insurer.

A recovery plan based on your findings

When appropriate, the plan may include chiropractic care or post-injury rehabilitation. Ask what the recommendation is intended to address, what alternatives exist, and when progress will be reviewed. Not every service is covered by PIP; the statute excludes massage therapy and acupuncture. Confirm costs and coverage before proceeding.
